Is it the size of the investment or the size of your commitment?

For a rather considerable period, in the early years of my career, I knew with every fiber of my being I was not where I was supposed to be.

The problem was, there was a disconnect between my life at the time, and the vision I had for it.

If I'm being completely transparent, the two didn't have much in common, and I really couldn't see any clear path from point a to b.

As I reached into myself to explore career options, I thought would make me feel whole, I had a rather deflating realization.

I was only truly qualified for the career I had, and really knew nothing else.

In Spring 2010, acknowledging my love of wine, I thought that I would invest in a foundation course at the American Sommelier Association.

It became very clear, very quickly, that being a Somm was no ego indulgence. It was an absolute calling on your life. A call that I quite frankly did not have the time nor inclination to answer.

However, the knowledge I obtained proved to be invaluable later on. But at the time, that was as far as I wanted to go.

Not one to be easily deterred, the next year, I was at it again!

This time, my love of food, brought me to my next adventure. I thought, maybe I would want to become a chef.

So, in Spring 2011, I enrolled in a course at the French Culinary Institute.

After the third week, I thanked my lucky stars I did not quit my job to pursue this field, because the heat of the kitchen and endless hours on my feet, removed any romantic notion I possessed about life as a chef.

I can go on and on, chapter after chapter, sharing stories of my journey to find myself.

The stories are varied and entertaining, even as I recall them.

If I wasn't investing in a course, I was investing in a coach. But the bottom line is that I was always investing in myself.

You need to participate in your own unfolding and begin to think independent of your circumstances.

The next time there is an opportunity to do something for you, consider the difference between cost and worth.

The cost is whatever it is, but what value would be brought to your life to answer a call from your soul?

With that said, I would like to invite you to join me on my podcast, Live, Learn, Leverage on Spotify.

I hope the content I share would inspire you to explore what is on the other side of your comfort level and take at least one step in the direction of your dreams.

In Love & Light,

Heather
